About

So here I am in the age of technology trying to grasp all these new and cool things that my kids take for granted– Ipods, Iphones, Blogs, YouTube, Myspace– all things that are “new” technology to me.  Not that I don’t embrace it, but sometimes I think that technology does not embrace me.  You know, that whole “old dog, new tricks” deal–but, we are establishing a relationship, technology and I, and I admit, we are becoming fast friends.

I was born in Virginia, and graduated in the 80′s–the era of Reagan, Big Hair, and my favorite band Van Halen.  I am a SAHM(Stay at home Mom), yeah, but in all honesty,  my friends and family will tell you I am never home.  I usually have some project or I am volunteering somewhere to keep me busy.  I am blessed with a wonderful husband of 15 years and two awesome kids–one in college and one starting high school in the fall.  Life is busy, it always has been, it is just the kind of busy  that changes from time to time.  I complain about not having time for this or that, but I have come to realize that I would be lost if I was not busy. I have been so very fortunate to stay at home and raise my kids.  I was a single mom for 5 years and I know how difficult parenting can be. I know the Marines are tough but I think being a Mom is the toughest job you will ever LOVE!  Every moment is precious and before you know it they are off to college.  My life, well yes its crazy, but I am learning to slow down (sometimes) and enjoy it more.  I am so blessed with wonderful friends and family–God and family mean everything to me!

As you probably noticed I love lighthouses.  I have traveled to several on the east coast and I enjoy photographing them.  Travel is my passion and when someone says “lets go” — I am ready.  There are so many interesting places to visit in this world and I just love to take in the diversity–the culture, the food, the history, and especially the people.

I am a Southern girl and proud of it–yes I say “yall” and I love grits and fried chicken–although I never developed the taste for biscuits and sausage gravy — much to the disappointment of my husband.  Up here in Delaware , I am a bit displaced  amongst the Yankees,  but then life wouldn’t be very exciting if everyone and everything was the same. I have been told that I really do not have the southern accent anymore ( I have lived here 14 years now) but all it really takes is a trip back home to VA or talking with a fellow southerner and that accent comes right back. One of my closest friends is native New Yorker of the Italian variety and it seems that since moving to Delaware, she has lost her accent as well. At least now we can understand each other.

I wanted a blog for many reasons–first, my husband had one and well, I wanted one too.  But mostly, I thought it was a great way to connect with friends (new and old) and family.  I am a little late on the scene and blogging is a new concept for me, but I really excited about the possibilities!
